A special thanks goes out to Julie (@juliaclobberts) for her awesome, awesome YETI idea! That’s right folks, step right up and see the spectacle that has the nation buzzing! A real live snow ball throwing yeti! He can dish out more damage and wreck more havoc than pile of puny children! He’s colossal! He’s fantastic! He can throw three snow balls at once! His fierce roar can blast incoming snow balls back in your face! HE IS YETI! FEAR HIM!
Seriously, fear him. He’s gonna wreck you. Just check out that ‘stache…

Snow Ballistic Submitted to iTunes!
Nov 17th
<professor farnsworth>Good news everybody!</professor farnsworth>
Snow Ballistic has been submitted to iTunes and is currently in review! We’ll know soon what the results are!
Some insider info: When you submit to iTunes you can setup a submission prior to submitting your app (i.e. fill out all the forms and such). I highly recommend doing this as the actual “binary” (i.e. your app) upload can take an uncomfortably long time, especially considering it has to be through Apple’s web interface on which, due to laziness on their part, there are no progress bars or uploading stats, just a generic “I’m doing stuff” rotating circle. Not to mention that more often then not your initial upload will fail due to a lost connection or a bad binary and, if you didn’t save all your submission details (forms, etc) you run the risk of losing all of that info.
Alright so I’m going to post some video footage of the final game being played today (sorry I haven’t been able to do this sooner)!
The latest news!
Nov 9th
Okay so looks like Snow Ballistic made the cut! We’re going to get Thursday to finish off any missing pieces and squash some bugs and then the game will be submitted to the App Store in 2 Mondays from now! You should be able to pick your copy up for $0.99! <salespitch>”That’s only 99 cents folks! Less than a cup of coffee!”</salespitch>
Look for more posts on Thursday!
Your friend,
Bryce
So here’s where we sit 3 days out
Nov 8th
Right, so by the cut off time we’ve actually completed Snow Ballistic! (which is playing super awesome by the way). If anyone wants to make a level for it (I made 50 of them last night alone
) let me know in the comments and I’ll send you a PSD or, if you don’t have Photoshop, I’ll send you a conceptual version
. All you have to do is put blocks together!
Here are some sweet screens…
Now Disaster Master, our more unique project…
Looks like you were right Mel
. Despite being in the hands of a very capable programmer with experience in these types of competitions the amount of work turned out to be too much to get done in the allotted time. A heroic effort by all but there was simply too much to do and too few hands to get beyond iterations of core gameplay. All is not lost though! As you should know if you’ve been following, this is the end of the Competition as per the initial rules BUT everyone seemed to really like the Disaster Master concept and we’ve got a level designer tool (of sorts
) AND we’ve got a ton of art done already (and I even made a Press Release!). What that means is we’re in a very good position to turn this idea into a real game with not too much more work. The CEO has to check out our existing game and see where we’re at (our meeting is at 10:30 today) at which point we will be discussing the possibilities of still making the tornado game (and I think we have a real chance, he was one of its biggest fans
)
So regretfully we didn’t meet our goal of 2 games in 72 hours but the amount of work and effort was remarkable, really, really awesome stuff and we’re not done yet! I’ll post some more news today once we know more about the future of Disaster Master and when the approximate release date is for Snow Ballistic!
Oh and we got a feature on the seminal Games Day Podcast! Check it out: http://blog.gamesdaypodcast.com/?p=2422

It’s been a while! We’re working like crazy!
Nov 7th
Here’s the latest!
- I’m getting sound effects and music together
- Mai is getting Snow Ballistic up on the Mac (oh man do people have some choice words for X-Code
) - Murphy is plugging away at Disaster Master trying to hone the controls and how they feel (I’m going to have to do another, this time massive, level for it)
- Shaun is back and he’s helping Mai and adding the HUD elements to Snow Ballistic (and he’s already fed 500 Koreans today. Seriously)
- Jamie is getting icons and such together for Snow Ballistic
- Randy is taking a well deserved break with his family
Will I make it to my wife’s family dinner tonight? Tune in later to see if I’m still married
